GUEST COMMENTS (new rental 2/11):
Fred Kernohan (October 2013)
We had a GREAT time! We love Cape San Blas and your home. It was comfortable, pretty and organized.
Marjorie Ferrer (April 2013)
We had a lovely time and the Cape is so nice. We have been on St George Island and in Apalachicola and even came over to Indian Pass but we had not driven on to the Cape. I like it more than SGI. I do plan to come back and would love to stay a month during October or March.
We went to the Indian Pass Raw Bar and it was really crowded with a big wedding crowd, so we went on into Port St Joe and had some raw oysters at the marina there near the Piggly Wiggly. My son-in-law was looking for an oyster fix! I picked up some snapper and fresh shrimp at Triple Tails and we cooked in after that.
We did not explore around very much because Maria isn't back to 100% energy-wise and with a one month old, we just played with the baby a lot! I held him for naps two days in a row! They pushed him in the stroller on the beach a few times. We set up our Easy Up one day when it wasn't too windy and all napped down on the beach! We enjoyed all the fires in the evenings. People dig big giant pits for the fires and for themselves to sit in and then just bury everything when they are done. That is pretty neat! And of course the stars were wonderful - have not seen the milky way in a while so it was nice and clear most nights!
I will send you some pictures in another email. Joe's filing system on line and the way I look for things just do not match and he has been off on jury duty all week! So as soon as I can get him to show me where he stored them, I will select some good ones and send on your way!
Melissa Caden and Family (March 2013)
We had a wonderful stay at Barrier Dunes 177, and our entire family was very sad to leave. I found the unit very clean and accommodating and thoughtfully stocked. I felt comfortable and relaxed the entire week. Although it was cold and windy for most of the week, though, we did enjoy other activities like kayaking, horseback riding, sailing, bike riding, camp fires on the beach, and ice cream at Coneheads. We definitely enjoyed the Cape and the gorgeous, clean beach and Gulf....we'll make plans to return.
Frances Cochrane (Jan - March 2013)
Barrier Dunes is great and the beach fantastic for the dog. Lots to do in the area. We especially loved Apalachicola and Windmark Beach. We went to quite a few restaurants, our favorites being Seafood Grill and Caroline's in Apalachicola. To be honest we thought the Sunset Coastal Grill in Port St. Joe to be a little overrated.
We are really not sure yet about our plans for next year. Our dog is very old And not well. If he is no longer with us we will probably go to Spain. But if he is will let you know about renting again.
Thanks Wendy for all your help.
Stevi Driver (March 2013)
Wendy, it was absolutely WONDERFUL! Thank you so much!
I’m sorry I’ve been so long in getting back to you. I’ve been paying the price for taking some time off. We had a wonderful time at Waters Edge! We relaxed and ate and relaxed some more. It was a blessing to not have a cell signal. The dogs were just ecstatic about the beach. They wanted to be out there every second. We will certainly have a fond place in our hearts for this trip, and will want to come back soon.
I need to ask if the cleaners found a Nook reading tablet. We can’t find it anywhere, and we were afraid we might have left it there. Would you please let us know?

We had a wonderful time. The accommodations were perfect. It has been our favorite place to stay so far in 6 years. The only wish we had was for more time. When we come back and we will, a week or more is necessary. We never made in to Port St. Joe to visit! Just passed through. We snorkeled all day. And played on the beach in the evening with flash lights and my son fished. The dogs were in heaven as well, my cocker spaniel loves to swim in the waves. And my 15 year olds had plenty of people to talk too!! Great family vacation. Thank you for sharing it with us.

We had a great time at the Cape! Whiskey, my dog, really enjoyed his vacation. He was so funny...like a kid seeing sand and water for the first time. I'm glad no one could go with us. Whiskey and I had a good time, just he and I. I left him at the townhouse and would go to the pool (which was very nice). When I came back he was lying at the top of the stairs waiting for me.
I hope to go back again. Thank you for your help!

We loved our stay. The weather was gret, the beach wonderful and loved our accommodations. Still talking about it. We would be interested in staying the full month of February next year. Wait to hear from you.
Angela Palmer, February 2011
We had a great time! Waters Edge was very nice, comfortable and clean. We loved the beach. It was so clean and there were hardly any people around so it was very relaxing. I hated to leave and I'm already thinking of when I can go back.
