PET POLICY FOR OUR CAPE SAN BLAS VACATION RENTALS & GULF COUNTY

Pets are welcome at our Barrier Dunes Vacation Rentals on a limited basis.  First rule is, they must be well-behaved dogs ONLY! Even large dogs are very welcome, but no cats, lizards, snakes, turtles, birds or other pets allowed!  Again, big dogs are VERY WELCOME and breed doesn't matter as long as they are well-behaved!  You must have prior written approval for each dog that you will bring & your pet must be housebroken and well-behaved. The pet fee is $100 for the first dog and $50 for additional dogs for the first week & $25 per pet for additional weeks (please contact me for stays over 2 weeks as the rate will be less!)   You will be responsible for any damages as well as additional cleaning or treatment needs due to fleas or accidents.   Please bring your pet’s bedding as they are not permitted on the furniture or bedding.  We do provide pet towels so your dog can enjoy swimming & chasing crabs & birds on the beach!

PLEASE clean up after your pet so we can keep the Cape San Blas, FL beaches pet friendly!!

GULF COUNTY COMMENTS:
"For those traveling with pets, we'd like to say that we love animals in Gulf County. Within the State Parks, however, pets are unfortunately not allowed on the beach. On all other beaches, pets on a leash are more than welcome to take their owners for walks and enjoy the great water and beach."  - Gulf County Tourist Development Council.

You and your dog(s) are welcome at any of our Cape San Blas Vacation Rentals and on the on the beach, but you need to be a responsible pet owner!

See a slide show of some of our GUEST DOGS!

TIP FOR INJURED PAWS at the BEACH

If your dog has a paw injury that needs to keep sand out, try Glad Press and Seal wrap.  It goes on quickly, is fairly thick and has some traction on it beacuse of the texture.  It also comes off easily without sticking to the fur but had enough adhesion ot do the trick of sealing off the area!

BEACH ETIQUETTE FOR DOG OWNERS

  • Always keep your dog  leashed when there is a leash law.
  • Always clean up after your dog by using a poop bag (there are several pet stations around Barrier Dunes to make this EASY!)
  • Do not let your dog visit with other beach-goers or dogs, unless welcomed (meaning talk to those around you...most of the time you will just make a friend and your dog will too!).
  • If using an official off-leash area, your dog needs to be well-behaved and must listen to your verbal commands.
  • In an off-leash area, always pay attention to your dog.

Not a pet owner?  Concerned about staying in a pet-friendly unit?  We don’t think that you will be able to tell that a pet has been there before your stay! We are very particular and meticulous about the cleanliness of our vacation rentals!  Before we were dog owners, we would not have considered a dog in the house or the car!  What a change—2 dogs (and 2 kids) later!  We understand the concern and think you will be pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of our rentals!

Buzz, our new lab mix, finally made his "debut" in Cape San Blas!  He is definately a beach dog!  He's now about 40 pounds heavier than the above picture--but still as cute as he can be!  He met dog friends everywhere and played hard--it's the first time in his short life we've seen him tired!  He's part lab, so he definately likes to swim, but wasn't all that sure about water that "moves on it's own!" July 2005

FOR THOSE THAT LOVE THEIR PETS LIKE FAMILY: (thought this was cute!)

The dishes with the pay prints are yours and contain your food.
The other dishes are mine and contain my food.
Please not that placing a pay pring in the middle of my plate and food does not mean it becomes your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest!

The stairway is NOT a racetrack.
Beating me to the bottom is not the object.
Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run!

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-sized bed.
I am very sorry about this.
No not thingk I will continue sleeping on the cough forever to ensure your comfort.
Dogs can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep.
It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent posible.
I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing  but sarcasm and disrespect.

For the lat time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom.
If by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to clay, whine, bark or turn the know or stick your paw under the edge and try and pull the door open.
I must exit through the same door I entered.  I have been using the bathroom for years--canine attendance is NOT mandatory!

The proper order is:  Kiss Me, Smell the other end of the dog, NOT THE OHTER WAY AROUND.  I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear dogs:

Remember:
Dogs are better than kids because they eat less, don't ask for money all the time, usually come when they are called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-users, don'g smoke or drink, don't wear your clothes, don't have to wear the latest fashions, don't need a gazillon dollars for college and if they get pregnant, you can sell their children!
