If you are longing for a stroll on a quiet white sand beach that goes on in both directions as far as the eye can see, you’ve found it at Cape Escape on Cape San Blas. We visited the week before Easter and still the pet-friendly Barrier Dunes community was peaceful. It was a doggone dream vacation for our pup. Dogs walking their humans everywhere. And with three decks, our Jack had a front row seat! Wendy was prompt to respond to all questions and provided us with a list of establishments on the island and in Port St Joe. I could go on, but best to experience it first hand. Truly, this is a best kept secret. So shhhhh, please keep it to yourself…

This was our first trip to Cape San Blas. We stayed for the entire month of January. We found our condo via internet research. The customer reviews represented critical information for us. The reviews of the condominiums that Wendy manages, and of Wendy herself, are excellent. That inspired tremendous confidence and helped us make the right decision. The condo is excellent and Wendy is amazingly responsive to any/all questions/concerns. One example of this is our microwave oven went out on us one day, but Wendy had a brand new one purchased, delivered and installed in less than 24 hours. Her response to this unexpected problem was as good as it gets. We had a wonderful stay at the condo, which made for a wonderful trip to Cape San Blas. Footnote: The Barrier Dunes condominium complex is a great choice if you are social and even more so if you have a dog. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly, engaging and helpful. You will meet so many good people walking their dogs(s) in the complex and on the beach. If you enjoy making new friends, this is the place for you…

Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Cape San Blas. This is a hidden area that is a gem for a quiet couple’s getaway to a family-friendly vacation. I wish the weather had been better for us to enjoy some of the water activities but it surely gave me a taste to come back – I’m already looking at my calendar! And the seafood – YUMMY! The property was fabulous! All kinds of terrific amenities, great location – just steps to the pool house and beach – and the master suite was my favorite! Wendy made the booking so very easy all I had to do was show up! Everywhere we went at the Barrier Dunes, there were friendly people walking – a lot with their four-legged friends – and it gave the whole area a super safe & comfortable feel! Highly recommend Cape Escape Vacation Rental for any kind of travel to this fabulous treasure of an area! Did I mention we loved it?!

Wendy was very helpful and we were very comfortable in this townhome! Wonderful location, just a few steps from the most lovely Cape San Blas beach, with the most spectacular sunsets! Wendy made sure that the kitchen had all of the expected amenities and much more. The townhome was stocked with dish soap, laundry detergent, trash bags, and so many other things that made it really easy to get settled quickly. We made almost all of our meals at home and we had everything we needed. Everything was very clean when we arrived-you would never know that pets were allowed. We will definitely come back!

You will make this location a yearly must-do vacation!  The condo is perfectly situated on a pond full of entertaining turtles, with plenty of grassy area for your fur baby to investigate!   It is just steps to the beautiful sandy beach that we have never found to be crowded.  With 2 pools available & a playground for children, there is plenty of variety when staying here. Our condo is always very clean, stocked with the basics that you have in your own home, and everything in good repair. Wendy does everything to assure your vacation is enjoyable and relaxing.  Many of the businesses in Port St. Joe and Apalachicola are very welcoming to our dog, which makes our heart happy.  We have come here every year since we found this jewel and will continue to do so.

The beach is lovely and dog friendly.  Cape Escape’s units are always clean and have everything you need. We have stayed at the Barrier Dunes numerous times since the late 1980s and it is a nice development with all the amenities that blend into the landscape unlike a giant concrete box.

The rental home, warm and accommodating, made for a relaxing time.  We lacked nothing.  The beach, very clean, with warm gulf waters, highlighted a great time in the sun.  We enjoyed seeing the pets on the beach as the other vacationers.  We captured a magnificent sunset that we will remember for years.  Having our breakfasts on the patio added an extra flavor to our coffee.  Thanks for everything.

This was by far one of the best vacations I’ve had. From the condo to the beach no complaints from me. If you are bringing your fur babies this is the place to stay! I was worried the condo would have a bad pet smell but it DID NOT. First time for me at Cape San Blas and I will def. be back again. The Barrier Dunes community was beautiful and very dog friendly. The beds were comfy, everything was fully stocked and we took advantage of the beach closet. The beach was only a short distance away and very easy to get to. Wendy was great and easy to work with and we even got to meet her while we were there. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed my stay with family and most of all my 8-year yellow lab who absolutely loved the ocean!!

We are familiar with Barrier Dunes but this is the first time booking with Cape Escape. We found the condo to be quiet, clean, comfortable and a perfect place for relaxing. We spent every day on the beach except one (we rented a boat and spent that one day on the bay). The pools were clean. The grounds were well kept. It was nice having our own laundry room for washing wet suits and towels. We loved having the gas grill for grilling steaks and grouper. The back patio was very private, which was nice for early morning coffee. We will definitely rent here again. Wendy was wonderful to work with.

We booked a last minute “odd number of days availability” to go back to our favorite beach. Wendy Jackson is amazing and very good about getting back to you for any reason! We needed something mailed to us and she helped us with that. The place is just perfect for your week at the beach. We fed the turtles some of our salad fixings every night. We would gather about 20 at a time! Wendy has lots of good information about the area and the seasons on the cape. Thanks for a much needed Cape Escape!
